Arlington, VA: February 11, 2019 – Virginia Hospital Center (VHC), a community-based hospital providing medical services to the Washington, DC metropolitan area for 75 years, announced that for the fourth straight year VHC Vice President and CIO Michael Mistretta has been named one of the country’s “100 Hospital and Health System CIOs to Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review. The list includes chief information officers and executives nationwide who are leading organizations through healthcare’s technology revolution.

Michael Mistretta joined Virginia Hospital Center as Vice President and CIO in 2015. Mistretta has an extensive background working in software development, consulting and data center management services. He has also worked with major vendors for electronic health record (EHR) implementation and created solutions to increase productivity, improve quality and reduce expenses.
The 2019 “100 Hospital and Health System CIOs to Know” list from Becker’s Hospital Review recognizes individuals who have built robust technology departments and teams that oversee EHR implementation, new patient portals, telemedicine advancement and security. Each person on the 2019 list has received recognition from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and College of Healthcare Information Management Executives.
