Arlington, VA (April 24, 2018)— The Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association (VHHA) awarded Virginia Hospital Center's Taryn Overman, MSN, RN, CEN, the VHHA "4 Under 40" Emerging Leader Award of 2018.
Overman is one of just four nominees in Virginia to receive this prestigious honor. Winners are selected for their strong leadership style, unparalleled passion and effective collaboration with other departments and agencies. VHHA represents 110 hospitals and 27 healthcare systems across Virginia with the goal to make Virginia the healthiest state in the nation.
"On behalf of the Hospital and all the staff, we congratulate Taryn for this profound accomplishment that recognizes her as both a talented nurse and an inspirational leader," said Melody Dickerson, MSN, RN, CPHQ, Senior Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer. "This is a special day for not only Taryn but also Virginia Hospital Center. We are fortunate to have her as part of our team."
Overman, Senior Director of Outpatient and Emergency Services, is a consummate professional who continues to go beyond her management responsibilities to help her community. She worked in concert with the Hospital's Nursing Professional Development Council on a recent Hospital-wide collaboration with A-Span, resulting in the collection of more than two tons of cereal for the Homeless Service Center. And she directed the Hands2Hearts program – a joint effort with the Arlington County Fire Department – that helped train numerous community members in the life-saving skill of hands-only CPR.
