The Hospital’s IP/Acute Care Rehabilitation Center Staff
The therapists of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Department at Virginia Hospital Center provide physician requested physical, occupational and speech rehabilitation services to patients who are hospitalized at the Hospital to promote healing for multiple conditions. 

Physical Therapy

The inpatient physical therapists at Virginia Hospital Center work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide therapeutic interventions for functional mobility such as bed mobility, transfers, and ambulation. Additionally, they assist in determining any additional rehab or durable medical equipment needs in preparation for a safe discharge from the Hospital.

Occupational Therapy

The inpatient occupational therapists at Virginia Hospital Center focus on increasing independence and skills in all areas of daily living. These skills may include bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and cognition. Their goal is to achieve the highest level of independence by teaching new techniques to carry out daily life tasks, educate on the use of specialized tools or techniques to conserve energy, increase user experience strength and promote safety.

Speech-Language Pathology

The inpatient speech-language pathologists at Virginia Hospital Center provide therapy for adults to address difficulty speaking or swallowing due to injury or disease. They provide patient evaluations, functional analysis of speech and swallowing including rehabilitation for cognitive-communicative disorders.
