Ongoing Support Groups

No one understands what a cancer patient is feeling and thinking as well as another cancer patient. Realizing this, the Cancer Resource Center offers a wide array of support groups and programs that give the patients and their families the opportunity to gather and share. All support groups are free.

Art Therapy

4th Tuesday of every month, 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
Enhance the healing process, an art therapist facilitates a group using art media to cope with a cancer diagnosis and treatment. Christa Turpin, art therapist, began to offer an art therapy group for cancer patients in April of 2016. In a group setting, art therapy gives an opportunity for group members to express feelings and/or thoughts in a safe, non-threatening, and supportive environment. It also allows each member to make personal connections and develop relationships based on shared experiences.

"Since I started treatment, I haven’t missed a group. Even when I could barely get myself off the couch, I went. And I always felt better afterwards. The energy that is shared is uplifting and empowering, no matter how low you feel. I don’t think of this as a support group. It’s more about getting together with friends who happen to be on the same journey.” — Jessica Ganzer.
