Ongoing Support Groups


No one understands what a cancer patient is feeling and thinking as well as another cancer patient. Realizing this, the Cancer Resource Center offers a wide array of support groups and programs that give the patients and their families the opportunity to gather and share. All support groups are free.

Breast Cancer Patients with Children

2nd Friday of every month, 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Join other young mothers to discuss concerns living with cancer and raising a family. Facilitated by a patient navigator.

C.H.A.N.C.E. - Head & Neck Cancer

4th Wednesday of every month, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Oncology professionals discuss special challenges and concerns for anyone diagnosed with head and neck cancer.

"Project KnitWell"

1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month, 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Sponsored by Project Knitwell. Drop in knitting group for cancer patients and caregivers. The group is held in the lobby of the main Hospital (1625 Building), Zone A Parking. 

"Man to Man" - Prostate Cancer

4th Tuesday of every month, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Discussion group for men and their spouses or significant others. Co-sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Facilitators: prostate cancer survivor and oncology social worker. No registration required.

Reiki

3rd Wednesday of each month, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Reiki practitioners are available to provide 30-minute Reiki sessions for cancer patients. Appointment is required. To register, call 703.558.5555.

Breast Cancer Support Group

3rd Tuesday of every month, 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Meet other women diagnosed with breast cancer; share problems and learn new coping techniques. Facilitated by patient navigators.

Write Away Group

For meeting dates and times, call 703.558.6913.
