Cancer Nutrition Services

Cancer treatment can deplete the body of important nutrients. Particularly during treatment, a nutritionally balanced diet is important. Appropriate nutrition can help patients with various side effects of cancer treatment, as well as help patients on the road to recovery. To meet this need, the Cancer Resource Center provides free nutrition counseling based on the patient’s specific therapies and nutrition needs. In addition, the Center provides a series of nutrition classes, as well as cooking demonstrations throughout the year.

A Registered Dietitian can meet with you and your family for assistance with a variety of nutrition topics, including:

  • Managing eating problems and symptoms related to your surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, such as weight loss, dehydration, altered taste, nausea and vomiting, fatigue, and appetite issues
  • Reviewing and analyzing current intake to customize goals to meet vitamin and mineral needs through diet
  • Providing resources and tips to support your well-being
  • Managing unintended weight loss or gain
  • Advising on alternative forms of nutrition such as tube feedings

Individual Appointments are available with a registered dietitian to help assess your nutritional status and develop a plan for general nutrition (one hour initial consultation and one half hour follow-up). All consultations are complimentary.

Free Group Opportunities are available quarterly. Check our Events Calendar for the following classes:

  • Cooking
  • Exercise and Nutrition
  • Weight Management
