Inpatient Rehabilitation for Amputations

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Center (IRC) at Virginia Hospital Center uses multidisciplinary nursing, medical, and therapy care to meet the individual needs of each amputee both physically and emotionally. The program addresses limb management, wound care pain control. Treatment modalities include strengthening, endurance, flexibility and coordination activities to resume life roles. When appropriate, education and training are provided to patients on preparing for the use of prosthetics.

When deemed necessary, community outings and home evaluations are scheduled to help assess the patient’s readiness to re-enter the community and discharge home.

Referral & Admissions

Our admissions team will meet with prospective patients, gather necessary medical data and secure medical acceptance from the physiatrists on staff.

    There is a daily parking fee payable upon exiting the garage.

    Patient/Visitor parking passes and multi-day passes may be purchased from the Hospital’s Cashier 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (M-F), located in the main lobby of the Hospital (Zone A, 1625 building).

    After parking, cross the street to the Oncology Entrance on the ground level. Walk to the end of the hallway, turn right and follow the sings to the elevator. Upon exiting the elevator, take the first left into IRC.
