Alexis D. Light, MD

Alexis Light, MD is a OB/GYN physician with the VHC Physician Group. Originally from California, she attended Hampshire College, where she received a B.A. in 2006. Dr. Light received her Medical Degree and a Masters in Public Health from Tulane University in 2014. In medical school, Dr. Light served as a research fellow at the University of California San Francisco, where she studied many different aspects reproductive health and family planning. She also served as Chair on the National Gender and Sexuality Committee with the American Medical Student Association.

Dr. Light completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at Georgetown University / Medstar Washington Hospital Center in 2018. After completing her residency, she worked for CWC in Arlington Virginia for 2 years before joining VHC Physician Group – OB/GYN in the fall of 2020.

Dr. Light specializes in providing full spectrum obstetrics and gynecological care as well as minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. She is passionate about adolescent health and reproductive healthcare including family planning and complex conception counseling. She has expertise in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender healthcare and has published extensive research on gynecological needs, contraception use, and pregnancy in transgender men.

Dr. Light is a Junior Fellow with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a Fellow in the Society of Family Planning. She is a member of the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals and the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association.

She is currently accepting new patients.
