Virginia Hospital Center Receives 2016 VHQC Quality Innovation Award
Arlington, VA (September 22, 2016) – Virginia Hospital Center is the only hospital in the Washington, DC metropolitan area – and one of only four hospitals in Virginia– to receive the VHQC’s 2016 Quality Innovation Award. The award recognizes health care organizations for reducing hospital-associated infections (HAI) and creating a culture of patient safety.
All hospitals enrolled in the VHQC Maryland-Virginia HAI Improvement Network were eligible for the award, which is based on 2015 performance. Hospitals were evaluated using data from two sources: the Targeted Assessment for Prevention Report, developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help hospitals prevent HAIs, and the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey, better known as HCAHPS. Hospitals that scored among the top 10 percent in both measures received the award.
“Virginia Hospital Center is proud to be the only hospital in the area to be recognized by the VHQC with this prestigious award,” said James B. Cole, President and Chief Executive Officer. “It demonstrates our Hospital’s commitment, as well as the exceptional efforts of our dedicated staff, to provide the highest quality of care to our patients.”
