Building a Reservoir of Resilience

As our normal routines are uprooted and we are confronted with new challenges, our mental and emotional health may be impacted. Finding strategies to manage stress and cope with new circumstances is more important than ever.  Learn from a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Northern Virginia Older Adult Counseling about practices you can adopt to build personal resilience, inner strength and mental health, as well as recognize when professional help may be needed.

Falls Prevention and Trauma Center Overview

September is National Falls Prevention Month and an important time to take stock of the steps you can take to reduce your chance of a fall.  Falls are the leading cause of fatal injury and the most common cause of nonfatal trauma-related hospital admissions among older adults.  Hear from a seasoned Physical Therapist on ways to mitigate your fall risk. This lecture will also review the purpose and role of a community trauma center. What types of services are provided and what are the goals of a community trauma center?
