Arlington, VA (June 13, 2016) – Virginia Hospital Center is proud to announce that Darlene Vrotsos, MS, BSN, RN and Michelle Altman MBA, RN were named finalists in Washingtonian magazine’s “2016 Excellence in Nursing Awards.” Darlene Vrotsos, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, received the Nursing Leadership award, while Michelle Altman, Assistant Patient Care Director, was a recognized honoree in the Community Hospital Nursing category.

For eight years, Darlene Vrotsos has served as Virginia Hospital Center’s Chief Nursing Officer. Under her direction, the Hospital received Magnet® recognition, a prestigious distinction given to only seven percent of nursing staffs nationwide.
For almost three years, Michelle Altman has served as Assistant Patient Care Director of the Outpatient Clinic of Virginia Hospital Center. Under her direction, the Outpatient Clinic has established partnerships with a wide range of community resources to help ensure that clinic patients have easy access to necessary resources and follow-up care.
