Arlington, VA (December 21, 2015) – Virginia Hospital Center is honored to announce that James B. Cole, President, and Chief Executive Officer, has been named as a “130 Nonprofit Hospital and Health System CEO’s to Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review.
For more than 20 years, James Cole has presided over Virginia Hospital Center as President and Chief Executive Officer. He has led the Hospital’s transformation from a small community facility to an award-winning medical center, nationally recognized for clinical excellence and outstanding patient care.
Under his direction, the Hospital has achieved nationwide standing as a high-value provider with a superlative commitment to organizational performance, quality, and patient satisfaction. He has led the Hospital to recognition, most recently as a 2015 Leapfrog Top Hospital, and as one of America’s 100 Top Hospitals® three years in a row, and one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals® two years in a row, by Truven Health Analytics. In 2013, he was recognized by the Washington Business Journal as one of Washington, DC region’s “50 Most Admired CEO’s.” Jim is chairman of the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association Board, an alliance of health delivery systems committed to improving the health status of the community. His prior community involvement has included serving on the Boards of CrisisLink, the Arlington Free Clinic, and CrisisLink International.
