The Health Promotion Department at Virginia Hospital Center offers a variety of fitness classes and wellness workshops.
Unless noted, classes run for 7 weeks.

Fitness & Healthy Lifestyle

Bari-Fit (4-week session)

Wednesday, 6:30 – 7:30 pm (H)

Circuit-style, group training class for those who have undergone, or are preparing for, bariatric surgery. Learn proper form and how to safely and effectively exercise. Led by a group exercise instructor/personal trainer. 4-week session.

Body Sculpting

Monday, 6:00 – 6:45 pm (H)

Mat-based Pilates exercises aim to balance your body by strengthening core muscles that support the spine.

Pi-Yoga

Tone and energize with this blend of Pilates strengthening and Yoga poses.

Smoking Cessation Workshop

Wednesday, 7:00 – 8:15 pm (H)

Examine why you smoke and create a plan to quit. 1 session 3-4 times a year.

Yoga for Everybody

Wednesday, 7:00 – 8:30 pm (CS)

This traditional yoga class includes a relaxation exercise at the beginning and end of class. Reduce stress, increase your strength and flexibility. All levels are welcome.

Zumba

A high energy, exhilarating workout for anyone who likes to dance. No experience required.

Adaptive/Seated Yoga

Adaptive/Seated Yoga is for anyone with limited mobility, chronic pain or neuropathy. This class emphasizes breathing, gentle stretching and going at your own pace. All ages and ability levels are welcome. Chairs are provided.

Gentle Pilates

Saturday, 11:15 am – 12:15 pm (H)

Learn the building blocks of Pilates, the popular exercise that tones and strengthens your core muscles (abs, back, inner thighs). Suitable for beginners, seniors, or those desiring a gentle workout. Special needs and limitations can be accommodated.

Strength & Stretch for Seniors

Improve range of motion, muscle strength and bone health. All ages and limitations are welcome.

Tai Chi – Beginner

Monday, 5:30 – 6:30 pm (CS)
Thursday, 2:30pm – 3:30 pm (CS)

Learn Tai Chi postures designed to gently work muscles, improve balance, concentration, and the flow of energy that sustains health and calms the mind. Beginner class for students just beginning their practice, or who need a refresher of the 37-posture Yang short form. All ages are welcome. 10-week session.

Tai Chi – Intermediate

Thursday, 6:00 – 7:00 pm (CS)

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese practice designed to exercise the body, mind, and spirit. The intermediate class is for students who have learned the entire 37-posture Yang short form. All ages are welcome. 10-week session.

Family Fitness & Parenting

Prenatal Yoga

Monday, 7:00 – 8:15 pm (H)

Practice yoga poses and focused breathing exercises to cultivate calm and confidence for labor and childbirth.

Postpartum Yoga

Tuesday, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm (H)

Relax and rebuild strength as you bond with baby (6-weeks to almost crawling). This class provides a yoga workout for mom; babies will be incorporated into certain poses.

Baby Yoga

Friday, 11:00 – 11:45 am (H)
Saturday, 3:00 – 3:45 pm (H)

The Baby Yoga class is for babies age 6-weeks to nearly crawling, accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Baby Yoga class contains unique yoga postures designed to support baby’s development. Each class is filled with calming, nurturing ways to enhance bonding and improve baby’s sleep. Babies enjoy yoga while on their backs, tummies, or held in loving arms. For parents, this class is a special opportunity to meet other moms, get support, and learn about baby's emerging personality. The class is baby-centered, it does not include yoga or relaxation for the parent or caregiver.

Tots Yoga

Saturday, 4:00 – 4:45 pm (H)

Tots Yoga class is for tots who are actively crawling to 24 months old, accompanied by an adult. It is a supportive, fun-loving, and active class. As tot’s mobility increases, classes offer tot-centric poses and games that encourage and support their physical explorations. Tots become more confident in their moving bodies as they practice. During a Tots Yoga class crawlers and walkers playfully practice yoga postures while they are standing, sitting up, walking, and jumping. Parents also get to do a little yoga, but no yoga experience is required.
