Childbirth

Virginia Hospital Center delivers more than 3,000 babies every year. Every mother and child receives the caring, personal attention they deserve. All Labor & Delivery and Postpartum rooms are private to ensure a  comfortable, intimate environment. Fathers and other family members are always welcome. You have the freedom to have your baby in your room whenever you wish, or may choose to have the baby stay in the nursery.

Of course, Virginia Hospital Center offers much more than comfort and a warm atmosphere. We also provide the highest quality medical services available. With attending house physicians and neonatologists on hand 24 hours a day, seven days a week, you and your baby have round-the-clock access to expert treatment. Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is staffed by highly trained caregivers, and equipped with the latest in monitoring equipment and other medical technology. Those mothers-to-be experiencing high-risk pregnancies may take advantage of our Maternal-Fetal Health program, which can provide advanced testing and treatment long before delivery.

Your experience at the Hospital may also involve participation in various pre- and post-childbirth events ranging from tours of the Hospital, to breastfeeding classes, to yoga. Please visit our Women & Infant Health event calendar for more details.
