What is Breast Reconstruction?
Breast reconstruction encompasses many different types of procedures to restore the natural size and shape of a breast. Reconstruction may be performed following breast cancer surgery such as mastectomy or lumpectomy, or for congenital or developmental abnormalities of the breast. Recreating the natural appearance of the breast plays an important role in the healing process for women as they progress through their breast cancer treatment. Dr. Bedri strives to achieve symmetry and natural-looking results while taking into consideration the goals and concerns of each individual patient. Every patient is different and there is no single breast reconstruction method that is best suited to all women. Only a plastic surgeon who offers all surgical reconstruction options can ensure the best possible result for each patient. It is best to speak with Dr. Bedri prior to your breast cancer surgery; however, patients at any phase of breast cancer treatment have options for reconstruction. We welcome you to schedule a personal consultation to discuss your reconstructive options.
