Virginia Hospital Center is the only Washington metro area hospital to be named one of the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals in America
In November, Virginia Hospital Center was named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals® in America for 2014 by Truven Health Analytics, a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of healthcare. Selected from more than 1,000 U.S. hospitals, Virginia Hospital Center is the only hospital in the Washington metro area to achieve this national recognition for excellence in cardiovascular services.
The 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals for 2014 provide outstanding care and set new standards in excellence when compared to their peers. If all cardiovascular providers performed at the level of this year’s winners, 8,600 additional lives could be saved, 3,200 additional bypass and angioplasty patients could be complication-free, and $1 billion could be saved.*
In selecting the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals, Truven Health evaluates hospital performance based solely on objective, public data sources and peer-reviewed methodologies. Hospitals do not apply for the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals award and winners do not pay to market this honor.
“I applaud and thank our cardiovascular surgeons, cardiologists and staff involved in cardiovascular care. Their dedication to excellence has truly made Virginia Hospital Center a leader in cardiovascular care,” says James B. Cole, President & Chief Executive Officer, Virginia Hospital Center.
