Marjorie Sands Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Cares for Fragile Newborns
Longtime Hospital supporter Frank Sands, Sr. and his children Frank Sands, Jr., Katharine Sands Gunsalus and Laura Sands Crenshaw have made a major gift to support a significant upgrade of Virginia Hospital Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). In recognition of their outstanding generosity, the NICU renamed as the Marjorie Sands Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, in loving tribute to Marjorie as a wife and mother.
Heart Station Upgrade
The Virginia Hospital Center Heart Station, recently renamed in memory of Dr. Francis J. McGrath, Jr., provides cardiac stress testing, advanced heart imaging studies, a full array of echocardiogram imaging, and Holter monitors to track heart function for up to 24 hours. Upgrades to the heart station were made possible by gifts from Virginia Hospital Center Auxiliary, Virginia Heart, and memorial donations to the Francis J. McGrath, Jr. MD memorial fund.
