| Bio: | After completing a prestigious Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship, Arlington native and Yorktown High School graduate Negar Golesorkhi returned to Northern Virginia in September 2009 to join the Reinsch Pierce Family Center for Breast Health at Virginia Hospital Center—the first nationally-accredited breast center not just in Northern Virginia, but in Virginia overall.
Dedicated solely to performing breast surgery, she is a graduate of George Mason University (B.S., Biology; M.S., Molecular Microbiology & Cell Biology) and the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University (M.S., Anatomy; M.D.). Dr. Golesorkhi fulfilled her surgical internship and surgical residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (Philadelphia, PA), where she also completed a grant funded research fellowship. Upon completion of her general surgery training, she pursued the esteemed Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital (Pittsburgh, PA), gaining invaluable experience that benefits her breast cancer patients.
Dr. Golesorkhi believes that a fully informed patient is essential to any successful breast surgery plan—and her joint fluency in English and Farsi, plus Center staff's Spanish proficiency, enable her to connect with patients in various languages. She forms partnerships with her patients and educates them on their unique breast disease process and treatment options for breast cancer and related conditions. A frequent contributor to academic journals and presenter at clinical cancer and surgical symposiums, Dr. Golesorkhi has been recognized for her expertise with awards including The Breast Journal Award (First Place) at the 33rd Annual Symposium of the American Society of Breast Disease.
Dr. Golesorkhi's professional affiliations include the American Society of Breast Disease, American Society of Breast Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, and American College of Surgeons. |
