Bio:

Rebekah Kim, MD is a member of Virginia Hospital Center Physician Group - Colorectal Surgery. Dr. Kim received her medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School (Hanover, NH). She completed her residency in general surgery at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center, University Hospital of Columbia University (New York, NY). Dr. Kim completed a fellowship in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery focusing on minimally invasive techniques for surgery in colorectal surgery, and a colon and rectal fellowship at Orlando Regional Medical Center (Orlando, FL). Dr. Kim has a strong interest and research background in the application of minimally invasive techniques in colon and rectal disease. She performs transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM), and transanal minimally invasive surgery, which are methods of removing large rectal polyps and very early cancers not amenable to colonoscopic excision. She has a particular interest in the area of fecal incontinence, constipation and pelvic floor disorders. She treats the full range of colorectal disorders from anal disease, hemorrhoids, anal fissures, to inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), genetic diseases of the colon and rectum, fecal incontinence, diverticulitis, cancers of the colon and rectum. She performs laparoscopic colon and rectal surgery and colonoscopies. Throughout her career, Dr. Kim has participated in overseas surgery volunteer trips in Central and South America and Southeast Asia. She speaks Spanish and Korean.
