Dr. Patel received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Northwestern University as a member of the Honors Program in Medical Education. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Georgetown University and subsequently completed his fellowships in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep Medicine at New York University. After finishing his training, Dr. Patel stayed in New York and joined the Weill Cornell Medical College faculty as an Assistant Professor of Medicine attending in the Center for Sleep Medicine, Pulmonary Service and Medical and Neurosurgical Intensive Care Units. Dr.Patel has a special interest in Sleep Medicine and has published numerous papers related to the physiology and treatments of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) including new, non-CPAP, therapies for OSA such as the ProventR Nasal Resistor Valve. He also has experience in dealing with a wide variety of sleep disorders including insomnia, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome and sleep walking. Dr. Patel returned to the Washington DC area to focus on clinical practice and to be closer to family. He joined PMA in September 2011.
