The Volunteer Program at Virginia Hospital Center has a place for everyone. You may be retired, involved in your career, a stay at home parent, young or old, male or female. Our Hospital has varied opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. Volunteers work in over 40 different areas within our healthcare system.
The Volunteer Services Group consists of active students and adults who assist staff with direct patient care including:
- Patient Representative services
- Inpatient Hospital Units
Medical Surgical Unit, Nursery, Women & Infant Health, Pediatric/Young Adult, Oncology
- Outpatient Services
Emergency Department, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Radiology, Rehabilitation, Urgent Care Center
- Specialized Services
Cancer Resource Center, Computer Support, Health Information Management, Health Promotion, Nursing Education, Nurse Recruitment, Patient Relations, Public Affairs & Marketing, Virginia Hospital Center Medical Brigade, Volunteer Services Office
Who can volunteer at Virginia Hospital Center?
We welcome anyone age 16 and up, who wishes to donate their time on a regular basis. Some jobs require the Volunteers to be at least 18 years old.
What kind of work will I do?
The needs of the Hospital are always considered first, but we make every attempt to offer a broad range of opportunities. After you have completed your application, we will discuss specific opportunities and responsibilities during your interview process. Many times, we encourage you to move around to find the right fit for your talents. If there is something specific that you would like to do, please ask.
How much time must I give?
We ask for a minimum commitment of four hours a week, one day a week for at least six months duration. Beyond that, it is up to you. There are many needs for your energy and talents.

Virginia Hospital Center Auxiliary is a membership organization and requires limited annual dues. The Auxiliary Groupprovides selected services and programs, and conducts fundraising on behalf of the Hospital.
