RELEASE OF HCAHPS SCORES
Arlington, VA (March 28, 2008) - The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the national Hospital Quality Alliance (HQA) have released HCAHPS scores that cover patient satisfaction from an overall rating to nine other dimensions of a patient's hospital experience.
The Hospital is very proud of our overall rating received from HCAHPS and with the superior cleanliness rating which ties directly to stopping infection before it starts.
The HCAHPS scores have assisted Virginia Hospital Center in identifying our strengths and where we have opportunity to improve. The Hospital will continue to provide change agents and internal education to our nurses and physicians on items such as communication and timely response to the needs of our patients. Initiatives supporting this change include the creation of new patient discharge materials, nursing education in-services on communication and response, and the upcoming development of a Patient Advisory Board.
Virginia Hospital Center appreciates and supports CMS and HQA for creating a set of clear, standardized quality and satisfaction measures. Our top priority is being proactive in providing the highest quality of care to all patients and with the transparency of our healthcare system we can better serve and satisfy our community.
