Christopher D. O'Brien
Vice President for Physician Services
Christopher O'Brien joined the Virginia Hospital Center staff in 2008 as Vice President for Physician Services. In this role, Mr. O'Brien is responsible for directing the development and daily business operations of Virginia Hospital Center's physician network. In addition, he is responsible for developing and overseeing expansion plans for the existing Hospital medical practices, and for administering the network's fiscal operations.
Prior to joining Virginia Hospital Center, Mr. O'Brien was an executive with CodeRyte, a leading provider of technology solutions for the improvement of organizational workflow in the medical coding industry. Mr. O'Brien also served for more than fifteen years at Children's National Medical Center. During his tenure at Children's, Mr. O'Brien served as the Executive Director of Children's National Medical Associates. He was responsible for oversight of six Centers of Excellence and practice operations. He also managed and operated twelve main campus outpatient clinics, seven regional outpatient centers and an offsite centralized call center.
Mr. O'Brien received his B.S. in Accounting from Georgetown University in 1978 and his M.B.A. from George Washington University in 1984. He is a Certified Public Accountant, as well as board-certified in Healthcare Management and a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives.
