Carl B. Bahnlein

Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

Carl Bahnlein has served as Chief Operating Officer of Virginia Hospital Center since 1998 and was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 2000.  In 1988, he became Vice President for Support Services and in 1991 assumed responsibility for Professional Services as well. 

Mr. Bahnlein served in the United States Army infantry and is a decorated combat veteran.  He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and a member of the National Capital Healthcare Executives.  He has served on the Boards of the Hospice of Northern Virginia, the Arlington Free Clinic, the Emergency Medical Services Council of Northern Virginia and is a graduate of Leadership Arlington. 

Mr. Bahnlein earned his Bachelors degree from the University of Baltimore, his Masters degree in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University and a certificate in Management from the University of Pennsylvania, The Wharton School.
