James B. Cole
President & Chief Executive Officer
James Cole has been employed at Virginia Hospital Center since 1985. Beginning in 1994, Mr. Cole assumed his current position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital. Prior to assuming responsibility as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 1991, Mr. Cole served as Vice President for Professional Services and for Strategic Planning.
Mr. Cole served on active duty with the United States Army as a First Lieutenant from 1972 to 1974. He is a member of the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association Board and the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association Federal Advocacy Council. Mr. Cole also serves as Trustee of the John Leland Center for Theological Studies. Mr. Cole is the former Board Chairman of CrossLink International and of the Northern Virginia Hospital Alliance.
Mr. Cole received his B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1970, a Masters of Urban Planning from the University of Washington in 1972, and a Masters of Health Administration from Georgia State University in 1976.
